Powerful spam filtering

With multiple layers of aggressive spam blocking features, including rules-based spam filtering, reverse IP lookup matching, and support for open relay blacklists (DNSBL), 4D Mail has got your needs covered. In addition, relay and SMTP access control let you manage your connections more effectively. Specific relaying policies to control the transfer of messages can be configured with ease.

Virus Filtering

4D Mail provides support for virus scanning through ClamAV, Norton AntiVirus^TM, or McAfee Virex®. Each of these products scans for viruses that affect a variety of platforms. Virus definitions can be automatically updated to ensure protection against the latest threats. A custom install option for the ClamAV open-source scanning software is now included in the 4D WebSTAR V and 4D Mail Installer (v5.4 and higher). If you prefer to use one of the commercial products, you will need v9 or higher of NAV for Mac OS X (recommended), or v7 or higher of Virex for Mac OS X.

Secure, stable, and flexible

4D Mail combines the Unix-based stability of Mac OS X with strong mail server security features that safeguard your mailboxes. Its SMTP Server authentication is based on relay settings for ultimate flexibility, while Mailbox Server security allows you to maintain complete control over accont access to the Mailbox Server.

4D Mail puts you in control, with multiple post offices and multiple options at your fingertips. Decide to set up different post offices, assign each its own set of user accounts, and administrate them separately.

Handle the messages on your network more effectively with remote viewing and control of the relay queue. 4D Mail also gives you the added flexibility of remotely managing your system.

Standards based

4D Mail supports SMTP for sending messages, POP3 for standard e-mail account access, and IMAP4 for advanced e-mail account access with server-based message folders.

Web-based E-mail

Web access to 4D Mail accounts is provided through the full-featured, Web-based e-mail client program, 4D WebMail. Use it to read, reply, forward, send, and file e-mail from anywhere you happen to be working.
